Summer Poetry Project

The kids had a great time working on the classic poem “Wynken, Blynken, and Nod” by Eugene Field as a choral spoken-word project. Our theme this year for the summer library program was “Oceans of Possibilities,” so we chose this poem about three fishermen who go to a magical sea at night to fish. The poem was originally published in 1889 under the title “A Dutch Lullaby” and has been set to music by artists like Lucy and Carly Simon, the Doobie Brothers and Goldie Hawn. It was fun to work on such an imaginative poem and interpret it with a large dose of whimsy.
